Dylan for President

Dylan Paul Zinser Katz was born at about 5:15 am on the 4th of February, 2006. He arrived a pinkish shade of healthy, unscathed but for a dose of road rash crowning his fresh face. This blog is a place for family and friends to share images, media and commentary surrounding Dylan's exciting first years. This will, over time, become an archive and as well as a forum.

Dylan's 1 Year Stats

As of February 6, 2007 - Dylan weighed 21 pounds (he feels heavier) and was 28 3/4 inches long. He is crawling around and getting into everything. He is super fun right now. He already has a great sense of humor and he is still very vocal. Its funny, Dave and I feel like he has been a part of our family forever - even though it's just been one short year! One of his favorite foods is Cheerios and here he is eating them in a sweater hand-made by Great-Grandma Joan.

Dylan had a great b-day party at Nonny and Pepita's. Pepita really went all out with Mardi Gras decorations. We had my dad's signature bloody mary's as the drink of the afternoon. Grandma Lu flew in from St. Louis, Auntie Victoria & Uncle D drove down the mountain, Uncle Josh & Xan from L.A. and Aunt Jackie, Uncle Pat & Scott from Valencia all made it to celebrate with Dylan.
We missed Uncle Adam at Dylan's first b-day - but he did send these incredibly beautiful building blocks that Dylan is already enjoying.

First Christmas

Dylan spent his first Christmas up at Jackie and Pat's house. On the way up on Christmas Eve, we went for a walk in Manhattan Beach (Dylan enjoyed the aquarium at the end of the pier), had dim sum in Brentwood and then stopped at the Getty.

Dylan enjoyed unwrapping presents. He also just picked up an apple that had been in his stocking and started eating it - uncut!

Also, a little before Christmas we met Jennifer, Claire and Kim O to watch the Newport Beach boat parade at Kim's yacht club.

December St. Louis Trip from December 2006

Although I am a little late, December was fun month with a visit back to St. Louis. Dylan got to see a lot of people including Grandma, Eddie, Aunt Cindy, Aunt Becky, Aunt Mindy and cousin Nathaniel and his wife Ashley. He also got to spend a lot of good time with Grandma Sharon, Vic, Laurie, Dot, Frank & Rita. We had brunch with Warren, Julie, Emma & Jenny Herner. And towards then end of the trip we saw my cousin, Mary, and spent quality time with Grandma Lu (who taught him how to feed himself Cheerios).

Dylan's First Birthday Party

Hard to believe that he's already ONE year old. Crawling like crazy, understands a lot of what people say to him, clearly gives direction about what he wants/doesn't want, likes/dislikes...

Friends and family at the Mardi Gras-theme b'day party...more to follow, but here's the b'day cupcake signature shot, plus...Dylan's first taste of sugar (in/on the cupcake).
