Dylan for President

Dylan Paul Zinser Katz was born at about 5:15 am on the 4th of February, 2006. He arrived a pinkish shade of healthy, unscathed but for a dose of road rash crowning his fresh face. This blog is a place for family and friends to share images, media and commentary surrounding Dylan's exciting first years. This will, over time, become an archive and as well as a forum.

Memorial Day Weekend 2006

We had a busy Memorial Day weekend in St. Louis. This was also Dylan's first plane flight - he did not cry once going there or coming back. We travelled with Grandma Lu on the way out so Dave could work on the biz a bit longer and then Dave, Dylan and I travelled together on the way back.

On Saturday we (Grandma Lu, Jackie, Dave, Dylan and I) went up to Hannibal to celebrate Uncle Beuford's 90th b-day (which will be this August) and to go around to the cemeteries. We always meet at the Hannibal Inn and then all of us go on to Grandview - the newest cemetery. Then the die-hards go to the other three cemeteries. This year it was really, really hot - as in 96+ degrees! Dylan got to meet his Great Uncle Beauford Robinson (Big D's brother), Great Aunt Shirley and Great Uncle Pete Collier, Cousins Mary Collier and her sons Will and Jake, Cousins John Robinson, Christy Robinson and Sharis (John's daughters), Vickie and Bob (Beauford's daughter and son-in-law), Rob and Ann (Vicki's kids), Tony, Great Uncle Harry and Great Aunt Nukie Sanders (Pa's brother and sister-in-law) and more! Dave did a great job of videotaping the cemetery tour to try to get some family history for Dylan.

So on Sunday we went to Grandma Sharon's. Dylan got to meet his Grandma Sharon, Great-Grandma (my dad's mom), Great Aunt Marcia and Great Uncle Rick Swenson, Great-Aunt Cindy, Dot Branson, Great Aunt Rita and Great Uncle Frank Lange, and Vick.

We also had a good time in Lake St. Louis and on the morning of Memorial Day, Dylan met the neighbors - the Thiemes, Mr. Eng, the Templetons, Janet and Jim Quinn, Karyn Bohanan, the Pohligs. And in the evening we had Scott Linden and his family and Tammy King over. On Tuesday we took a ride on the boat - it put Dylan to sleep right away - he didn't like the life jacket too much though!
